Shadows Passing By

The things I thought important
are but shadows passing by,
perishable belongings once
appealing to the eye.

Then God made transparent
the things I held so dear,
were temporary trinkets
that would one day disappear!

He put life in perspective,
His kingdom comes first!
seeking after other things
would never quench my thirst.

Through divers circumstances
I've come to comprehend
life can change overnight
and shallow dreams may end!

The amazing truth reveals
there's more room in my heart
for the purposes of God
He is waiting to impart! (c)

About the Poet
Christian since 1973, widowed in 2007, but by the divine appt. of God, I married a wonderful, godly widower in Oct. 2010. Three grown, married sons and eight grandchildren. My first love is Jesus who inspires my pen, for apart from Him I can do nothing! I desire to honor the Lord and edify readers thru poetry He inspires.
