Affliction

Affliction

Since I've been afflicted,

I rarely go astray.

I need the Lord to get me through,

The easiet of days.

My hold on Him is tight,

More like a prolonged hug.

Our hearts are bound together,

I feel the slightest tug.

My love before, the fickle kind,

I judged Him by results.

Now convinced that He is good,

He smoothes out bumps and jolts.

As a sheep follows his shepherd,

I stay close by His side.

The difference is, I need Him more,

He's become my place to hide.

Psalm 119:75 "I know, O LORD, that Thy judgments are right, and that in faithfulness Thou hast afflicted me."

About the Poet
I've been a Christian for over 40 years and am continually thankful for Jesus' friendship and care. I'm married and have three grown children. I also have two grandsons and three granddaughters. Praise God! My prayer is that God would use these simple poems to encourage you in your walk with the Lord.
