Forsythia

Forsythia

I keep in watch of window's view
expectant with each dawning new
where vibrant chorus soon will sing,
announcing beauty in the Spring.

In subtle notes of whisper, first
each branch on bush astir, shall burst-
blooms bright as sunlight to behold-
by given Hand, a gilded gold...

all hailing Heavenward in breeze-
held manna-fed on rooted knees,
forsythia with fragrant tune
in perfect timing, ne're too soon...

(When I was a child growing up, my Mom had
planted a forsythia bush outside my bedroom
window. My Mom always raved about the color
and even refused to trim it or cut it back.
With every year, she inspired an awe in me
for the bright yellow color blooming in the
Spring. So about 10 years ago, I thought of
my Mom and that awe that she inspired in me
with forsythia, and I planted a forsythia
bush outside my one living room window. Now
I find myself doing the same thing every year
that I did when I was a kid...enjoying the
bright bold beauty of the bush...not just a
blessing to see, but a blessing that brings
back a memory of my Mom.)
