Glory Glory

(poem is a Glorionic sonnet)

The ancient rising sun sings glory - glory;
the melody is of Creation's story,
as fields flar gilded gold in morningtide,
and all of nature praising vast and wide
seethes warmth in light of God's way, open-eyed.
The song is one breathed from eternity-
Oh glory glory Jesus...you and me,
for unto Him, from sin we now are free
to grow as every plant or tree in ground.
The seed within shall flourish and abound
as God sings out...'The battle has been won!'
Each day becomes more golden, I have found;
the melody rings out each morn begun -
all glory...glory to the Savior Son!

(The Glorionic sonnet is an invented sonnet form inspired by the writing of
John Milton.  This is a contest form which has been used by many workshops.
Introduced by Gloria Martin in 1976 and found in The Study of Writing and Poetry.
The Glorionic sonnet is a quatorzain made up of an octave and a sestet.  It is
14 lines and written in iambic pentameter.  The rhyme scheme is:
aabbbcccddedee, composed with the pivot in the declamatory end couplet.)
