In March...a Crocus

In March...a Crocus

In March, just when the land begins to thaw,

the crocus peaks to find first light on earth;

'tis vibrant green in hallowed early birth

of Spring, called into being by God's Law.

A bud arises - beauty without flaw,

and small it 'tis, yet deep in given girth;

but oh the bloom that rivals others mirth-

of purple hues or golden, I'm in awe.

It 'tis the silent voice of God alone,

so loud yet humble in its weight and size-

the work of our Creator, who has known

the crocus, since the first of dawning skies.

Perfection in the flowering has shown

how praise and guidance lead one to the prize...

Philippians 3:14...I press onward towards the goal to win the prize for which
                            God has called me Heavenward to Christ.

(a Petrarchan sonnet inspired by The Rhodora by Ralph Waldo Emerson)
