The Volume of His Voice

The emptiness of earthly riches speak;
they are the lord to some who seek and seek.
They are the prize, the goal that drives one on-
the force that makes one strive until they're gone.
They are the ruse...the hook...the glaring snare
amidst the lives of beings everywhere-
the cause of humankind to turn their face...
away from joy so true and utmost grace.
Then all this striving, making one want more
wears heavy on the soul - more than before,
and one is ne're content nor satisfied
when earthly riches call to be one's guide.
But hope abounds for those who want true peace
and happiness of spirit to increase...
when one turns up the volume of the voice
of Him...and only then can one rejoice.
