Oh Jesus! My Savior!

Oh Jesus! My Savior!

Oh Jesus!  My Savior!...because of you, I'm free;

because of you mankind may find new life eternally!

Almighty grace, the angels sing in praise and adoration;

my soul rejoices in your Light with spirited elation!

For love of us, upon the cross-

in pain, your life you gave

to lift us from the depths of sin-

to raise us from the grave!

Oh Jesus!  My Savior!...a trumpeting I hear;

it 'tis my heart that stirs my soul because I know you're near!

No sweeter sound fulfills me than the Word you freely give!

No greater blessing caries me than knowing I will live!

My broken chains, I praise you for-

I am no more a slave,

to one whose constant snare adheres

to keep me in the grave!

Oh Jesus!  My Savior!...at watch on Heaven's throne-

no one surpasses what you've done...no greater love is known!

You've touched upon my earthly eyes and shown the righteous way;

your presence in my spirit thrives renewed with each new day!

Oh glory be, Lord Jesus Christ-

the greatest gift you gave-

Oh wondrous Lord whose utmost love

has saved us from the grave!

(Written in Elegy form as the poem 'O Captain!  My Captain!' by Walt Whitman.)
