Change of Seasons

Bared lines of forest trees here limn the sky;
last leaves have fallen, pillowing the ground.
The woodland breathes a permeating sigh
as wind stirred branches creak in subtle sound.
Once hidden nests in boughs are now revealed,
breeze-stirred near to the somber clouds of gray-
no movements of the nesting birds concealed;
they soar and dart throughout the woodland's way.
The Winter's called and Autumn now has heard;
to us, it is an unseen beckoning
how time within the season, like a bird
flies onward, in God's will and reckoning-
observed this hallowed day of mid November...
the forest readies, welcoming December...
