The Love of Plowing?

Love of Plowing

It is time to till
Riding the tractor even after dark
Spring planting must be done
Summer growing season due to begin
Seed is ready with fertilizer
The spreader prepared to do its part

That was yesteryear!
Now there is no plowing
The seed is 'drilled' into the ground
With weed killer and fertilizer
The time of year remains the same
Until scientists can rearrange that too

Where is the love of the soil
The smell of fresh turned earth
The feel of the new plowed soil
The use of the disc and harrow
Mechanization and profit are man's love now
Business suit takes place of the overalls.
