When Comes the Winds of Areon

When comes the winds of Areon
And all is pacified and quiet
There stirs in the mists of dreams
And visions of the midnight hour

Wild memories of wizardry and magic
Spells cast and curses formed
To entertain the mottled crew of lads and lasses
Or of nobler name if perchance they be so born

With blazing logs upon the hearth
The harp and lyre at full play
Incantations or songs of long lost lore
Fill room and drink logged minds

Passions for mystery and adventure so aroused
Don Quixote would have blushed to see it
Gandalf himself or Merlin too would have been amazed
The depth of desire the mind does crave

Of tender romance, of pathetic quest, of full blooded intent
To use whatever recourse there be the battlements of time and space to rend
The use of dagger, runic symbols, secret rhymes, strange poisons
To master the fates of those far off centuries of time and place
