Advent, Advent, Hear Those Chimes

No town crier as of days of old
To remind us in these days so cold
That Advent Season has arrived

But chimes there are if you closely listen
The spirit of wonder and joy do glisten
From Advent messages abundantly supplied

Turn toward the heavens, your sleepy eyes
The chime of the stars with suddenness surprise
Proclaiming the glory of the Son, once despised

With sweeping gestures push all else aside
Let the chimes of Advent in your heart reside
Emmanuel's birth not to be ever denied

Emmanuel's birth never denied

Advent, Advent Hear Those Chimes!(c)2003 Quentin Clingerman
