The Year of the Ants

Get ready for all the picnics this year
They should bring everyone a lot of good cheer

Baked beans with bacon a real must
Assorted pickles, fresh vegies or bust

Sweet coleslaw (without the horseradish please)
German potato salad and shrimp salad your palate to tease

Macaroni salad and spicy three bean salad as well
Fresh Romaine lettuce, onions, cucumbers, croutons, choice of dressing do tell

Lean hamburgers and long hotdogs galore
With mustard, catsup, relishes from your favorite store

Soft drinks, sweetened ice tea, lemonade
Homemade pies, cakes and ice cream in the shade

Why so many picnics this year?
It is the year of the ants, My Dear

The Year of the Ants (c)2003 Quentin Clingerman

Author's Note: The ants are really very omnipresent! Big ones, little ones, red ones, black ones! Everywhere!
