Drought or Flood

Nature has been most unkind
Leaving us without water
Conservation measures such a grind

Now the clouds have let go
More water than places to run
Flood now is the dreary show

How like the writing of poems
Sometimes drought and sometimes flood
Dealing with these created tomes

Putting our minds to the work at hand
Reading and writing, stirring creativity
These poems we surely finally gratefully land

Drought or flood in nature we must endure
Drought or flood in creativity we can overcome
Those poems must come, that is for sure

If this appears like a poetry drought you are right
Those real poems will come
Just sit tight

Drought or Flood (c)2003 Quentin Clingerman
