Jesus Had a Lot on His Plate

Jesus Had a Lot on His Plate

Jesus had a lot on His plate

On His way to Calvary’s Cross

Three years with His disciples

Had they counted all the cost

Peter would deny Him,

Judas would betray

Before Pilate, Herod, and the others

He stood fast in His Stay

He knew what lay before Him

The mocking crowd and shame

The crown of thorns upon His head

The blaspheming of His name

His robe was taken from Him

Not His robe of Righteousness

Then before the world , Behold Him!

The Son of God no less!

His wrath He could have poured out

And leveled man therein

But No! He held back Judgment’s Hour

Pouring out Himself  for sin

Naught of sin which He had done

None could convict Him so

But for the sins, of this whole world

Because He loved us so

But in our Lord God Almighty

Law and Grace did meet

Making a way for you and I

To come to the Mercy Seat

For the joy that was set before Him

He endured that rugged cross

And with eyes that were full of compassion

He looked out upon the lost

How easily we are slighted

Over such a simple offence

But Jesus Christ, He endured

What endearing benevolence

So He bids us likewise

Take up your cross and follow Me

Give the world a taste of the Son

In tasting they shall be free!

About the Poet
I came to know the Lord as my personal Saviour in January of 1972. I was married on Oct 21,1966 to my wife Linda who also loves the Lord. We have ten children and now twenty-four grand children. In Aug 2012 we got the announcement of the birth of our first GREAT grand child (a baby girl). I was thrilled to find others of like precious faith and belief in Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! What a Savior! I am presently living in Champion, Alberta, Canada but we are originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. That is where the poem Canadian Tribute to America was birthed. One Sunday as I walked across the city on my way to church I came to the top of a hill and looked across at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. After watching the events of the Sept 11 tragedy it was weighing on my heart and mind and the Lord gave me these words. We came to Calgary and when my oldest daughter saw this poem she said, Dad, whats this? and I said a poem and she replied Dad, thats not a poem , thats a song and she then went to the piano and began to sing and play it. The result of which turned into a song entitled, A Canadian Tribute to America which she recorded on CD. garyjamessmith2005@yahoo.ca
