From A Mansion To A Manger

From A Mansion To A Manger

From a mansion to a manger
Came my Saviour down to earth
And in the most humble of surroundings
Was He born as a virgin birthed
Heralded by Holy angles
To some chosen men shepherding
Came forth our blessed Messiah
Our Prophet...our Priest...and our King

Hallelujahing and high fiving
Were I'm sure those shepherds response
When the angels announced His birth from on High
The most gladest to ever be announced
God is long-suffering to usward
Not willing that any should perish
That is one truth amongst many in God's Word
But definitely one we should cherish

For Christ came on a rescuing mission
To seek and to save the lost
And knowing that the wages of sin was death
Praise God He paid sins highest cost
Praise God He still has saving power
Hallelujah there's power in the blood
And you can be saved by grace through faith
By repenting and trusting in the Lord

Christmas was expressed at the tomb
Possibly declared by the very same angels
For when they declared "He's not here...He's arisen!"
That echoing reached Heaven's Halls
Where the rejoicing is never ending
For look what great things that the Lord has done
Praise God hark the herald that the angels sang
That we can now know such a great Salvation...hallelujah!
In the person of Jesus Christ God's Son!!!

Hallelujah what a Saviour!

About the Poet
I came to know the Lord as my personal Saviour in January of 1972. I was married on Oct 21,1966 to my wife Linda who also loves the Lord. We have ten children and now twenty-four grand children. In Aug 2012 we got the announcement of the birth of our first GREAT grand child (a baby girl). I was thrilled to find others of like precious faith and belief in Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! What a Savior! I am presently living in Champion, Alberta, Canada but we are originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. That is where the poem Canadian Tribute to America was birthed. One Sunday as I walked across the city on my way to church I came to the top of a hill and looked across at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. After watching the events of the Sept 11 tragedy it was weighing on my heart and mind and the Lord gave me these words. We came to Calgary and when my oldest daughter saw this poem she said, Dad, whats this? and I said a poem and she replied Dad, thats not a poem , thats a song and she then went to the piano and began to sing and play it. The result of which turned into a song entitled, A Canadian Tribute to America which she recorded on CD. garyjamessmith2005@yahoo.ca
