Set Apart

There is a placement for believers
When we come to know the Lord
We are set apart for the glory of God
For the sharing of His Word
Separated from the world
And all of it's fleshly desires
Now that we're walking in the light
Our thoughts are so much higher

We know our destination
We are just pilgrims in this land
Watching and waiting and witnessing
Until we're ushered to Gloryland
Burdened with an implanted passion
For the soul's of lost women and men
Seeking to tell them of Jesus's words
"Ye must be born again"!

The joy of the Lord is our strength
And praise God our victory is faith
For we have repented and have trusted in Him
Believing each word that He said
Forgiveness that spiritual transaction
To the deepest core of our being
For we have been washed in the blood of the Lamb
Once washed there your soul becomes clean

Praise God for His Spirit who leads us
In a purposeful way of new living
Walking in the light through Jesus Christ
With a heart full of praise and thanksgiving
Yet above our joy and rejoicing
With minds still attentive to Him
We try to seek and to tell the lost
You can have victory over sin

Such was our Saviour's compassion
Who often would take up His day
By finding some soul to share with
And show them the heavenly way
So thankful that I've come to know Him
Who has our best interest at heart
And for the glorious work of this gospel
I've been set apart!

About the Poet
I came to know the Lord as my personal Saviour in January of 1972. I was married on Oct 21,1966 to my wife Linda who also loves the Lord. We have ten children and now twenty-four grand children. In Aug 2012 we got the announcement of the birth of our first GREAT grand child (a baby girl). I was thrilled to find others of like precious faith and belief in Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! What a Savior! I am presently living in Champion, Alberta, Canada but we are originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. That is where the poem Canadian Tribute to America was birthed. One Sunday as I walked across the city on my way to church I came to the top of a hill and looked across at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. After watching the events of the Sept 11 tragedy it was weighing on my heart and mind and the Lord gave me these words. We came to Calgary and when my oldest daughter saw this poem she said, Dad, whats this? and I said a poem and she replied Dad, thats not a poem , thats a song and she then went to the piano and began to sing and play it. The result of which turned into a song entitled, A Canadian Tribute to America which she recorded on CD. garyjamessmith2005@yahoo.ca
