There's A Work

There's A Work

There's a work that needs to be done in your heart
That only God can do
And the most expressive pathway to such
Will be the Word of God in you
We can all have access to God
For He's blessed us with independent thought
We're responsible for our soul's well being
Even though some might say we're not

Don't just depend on a man of the cloth
For he might be clothed in his own righteousness
Telling you that you just have to be good
In order for our God to bless
There's a righteousness of much Higher quality
That can only  be obtained through the Son
The righteousness by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ
God's only begotten Son

Our hearts are all tainted with sin
And that's the absolute truth of it
Our hearts are desperately wicked as well
And deceitful above all things to wit
The preaching of the Cross brings deliverance
For a mighty fortress is our God
Who stands behind His Word with a Witness
The Holy Spirit of the Lord

So as off to work you go today
To do what you have to do
You know the routine you've done it so often
It's become a repetitious route for you
How about making a routine to read your Bible
And get to know your God
You'll receive a satisfaction beyond compare
He's in the pages of His Word

Praise God for the availability of His Word
There's not yet a famine here
Pick your quiet spot tonight
Give the Bible a listening ear
Pray that God might lead you
To the truths that are found therein
So that might come to know the Saviour
Who was Crucified for your sin

Remember celebration time is near approaching
The Resurrection of Jesus Christ
This whole world's soul Forgiver
Who has paid sins ransom price
Your soul needs light in its chamber
The Word will give assistance there
Come humble thyself and know thy God
Clothe your heart with prayer!

Hallelujah what a Saviour!

About the Poet
I came to know the Lord as my personal Saviour in January of 1972. I was married on Oct 21,1966 to my wife Linda who also loves the Lord. We have ten children and now twenty-four grand children. In Aug 2012 we got the announcement of the birth of our first GREAT grand child (a baby girl). I was thrilled to find others of like precious faith and belief in Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! What a Savior! I am presently living in Champion, Alberta, Canada but we are originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. That is where the poem Canadian Tribute to America was birthed. One Sunday as I walked across the city on my way to church I came to the top of a hill and looked across at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. After watching the events of the Sept 11 tragedy it was weighing on my heart and mind and the Lord gave me these words. We came to Calgary and when my oldest daughter saw this poem she said, Dad, whats this? and I said a poem and she replied Dad, thats not a poem , thats a song and she then went to the piano and began to sing and play it. The result of which turned into a song entitled, A Canadian Tribute to America which she recorded on CD. garyjamessmith2005@yahoo.ca
