2017 Farewell
Viewed Last 24 Hours: 1 time

Other Poems by Gary James Smith

"Justa thinking"!... Wow! Has this year ever flown by.. In some ways it has been the most disruptive of my life but praise God.. He is faithful... He has blest my heart beyond all measure.. Thank You Lord... The only disappointment I ever really have at each year end is that others... family and friends have not accepted God's offer of Salvation in Jesus Christ Who was... Is.. and ever shall be Lord of all! As someone once said.. If He is not Lord of all.. He is not Lord at all! I ask you in heartfelt love for your soul... Is He Lord of your life? Don't let 2017 exit without you making the Supreme decision of your life.. Have I accepted Him by faith and have I true Repentance in my heart for sin... As time ticks away may your heart embrace the love God has for you by sending His only begotten Son to die for your sin so you may have eternal life where time will cease to be...may you be blessed to have done so.. And in your life... May Jesus Christ be praised in His name I pray.. AMEN!

2017 FAREWELL

2017 farewell I bid thee fond adieu
You went by so fast this year
The days they really flew
And God has blessed so wondrously
O how Good He is
Still His eternal record stands
Praise God our Saviour lives!

The opportunity to repent
Is in it's final day
Don't leave this year with it undone
But trust in Christ today
Push aside those trivial things
That hold you back from this
Take some thought of eternity
And where your soul will live

May the last day of this year
Be your first to pray
Make it not about me dear Lord
But to let You have Your way
Be circumspect with consideration
And then may you say Amen!
I'm going to listen to the Saviour
I must be "born again"!

What significance of each day
Of which each year is built
Let your life be a living flower
One vibrant...not one of wilt
So take old sin and put it off
Put on the Lord Jesus Christ
Bid Farewell to 2017
Accept Christ's Sacrifice

Live! Live! Live my friend
In the strength of our dear Lord
Today be a blessing unto God
Trust in His Holy Word
He has created 24 hours
Of time allotted to pray
Take one minute of it please
Know Your God today!

About the Poet
I came to know the Lord as my personal Saviour in January of 1972. I was married on Oct 21,1966 to my wife Linda who also loves the Lord. We have ten children and now twenty-four grand children. In Aug 2012 we got the announcement of the birth of our first GREAT grand child (a baby girl). I was thrilled to find others of like precious faith and belief in Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! What a Savior! I am presently living in Champion, Alberta, Canada but we are originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. That is where the poem Canadian Tribute to America was birthed. One Sunday as I walked across the city on my way to church I came to the top of a hill and looked across at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. After watching the events of the Sept 11 tragedy it was weighing on my heart and mind and the Lord gave me these words. We came to Calgary and when my oldest daughter saw this poem she said, Dad, whats this? and I said a poem and she replied Dad, thats not a poem , thats a song and she then went to the piano and began to sing and play it. The result of which turned into a song entitled, A Canadian Tribute to America which she recorded on CD. garyjamessmith2005@yahoo.ca
