How She Slept
Viewed Last 24 Hours: 1 time

HOW MUCH SLEEP

How much sleep did Mary have
After the Lord's crucifixion
Especially witnessing Lazarus' death
And of his Resurrection
While Martha was busy in the kitchen
Mary knew...her place
It was sitting at the feet of Jesus
And partaking of His grace

Her heart was so attentive
To every word Christ spoke
She had known His mighty power
In the raising of kin folk
She believed the Scriptures
And by their concepts was led
She knew the power of Jesus Christ
In the raising of the dead

But having witnessed our Lord's death
The nails in His feet and hands
And then that spear thrust through His side
Those thorned crowned brow blood stains
Marred beyond any other
No comparison to the other two
Here hung the Resurrection and the Life
Would He rise in three days too?

In fear and apprehension
Came Mary unto the tomb
She brought some anointing oil
But was startled at the view
For an angel appeared before her
And said "Mary don't you fear"
I know you've come to see the Lord
But Mary! HE'S NOT HERE!

Now go and tell the disciples
Exactly what you heard
He is alive! He is Risen!
Christ is the living Lord!
Lord Jesus was waiting for Mary
He met her along the way
Now she had positive identification
He's the Life....He's
the Truth...and the Way!

About the Poet
I came to know the Lord as my personal Saviour in January of 1972. I was married on Oct 21,1966 to my wife Linda who also loves the Lord. We have ten children and now twenty-four grand children. In Aug 2012 we got the announcement of the birth of our first GREAT grand child (a baby girl). I was thrilled to find others of like precious faith and belief in Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! What a Savior! I am presently living in Champion, Alberta, Canada but we are originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. That is where the poem Canadian Tribute to America was birthed. One Sunday as I walked across the city on my way to church I came to the top of a hill and looked across at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. After watching the events of the Sept 11 tragedy it was weighing on my heart and mind and the Lord gave me these words. We came to Calgary and when my oldest daughter saw this poem she said, Dad, whats this? and I said a poem and she replied Dad, thats not a poem , thats a song and she then went to the piano and began to sing and play it. The result of which turned into a song entitled, A Canadian Tribute to America which she recorded on CD. garyjamessmith2005@yahoo.ca
