Imagine A God

Imagine A God

Imagine a God who made a man
And kick started his life by breath
Who knew every aspect of his inner being
And ultimately his time of death
And with His greatest attribute...the attribute of love
Wonderously partook of that very same nature
As well as that He was the Word

Man began in perfection
No sin was placed to his account
Until that day in the garden
When disobedience began to surmount
And on that disobedience day
Believing the father of lies
He found Himself hiding from God
Afraid to meet Him eye to eye

That perfect being lost his estate
And brought in the fall of men
For the bible says by one man's disobedience
We are never the same again
Now death passed unto all men
For God had spoken it thus
Yes just by one man's disobedience
A sin nature was given to us

And so we are still today
Sinners at the point of our birth
Bent on going against God's will
Up until we leave God's earth
And that nature has to be changed
To make us right with God again
So God provided a sacrifice
To redeem both Eve and Adam

Here we are with that very same nature
Because we all derived from Adam
It has to be changed to be acceptable
Or we'll never make it to Heaven
Look at the curses that sin brings in
The drugs..the sex..and the booze
It doesn't take long to look around us
To see the results of what we choose

There's anger and jealousy and murder and lust
Stubborness and envy and pride
It doesn't take long for that compilation
To show we are sinful inside
But praise God for sins remedy
The way of the Cross leads home
God has provided a wonderful Salvation
And it's in Jesus Christ alone

Maybe you never thought about it before
No wonder I'm the way that I am!
If I have a nature that's sinful from birth
No wonder that I'm still in this jam
And Satan's still trying from that garden day
To take my soul to Hell
I had better do something about my situation
And I had better do it right now!

Friend there's a Spirit that hovering nearby
It is called the Holy Ghost
Those of us believers know it exists
Even though it is doubted by most
And God's reputation is placed on the line
Listen now I want you to hear it
That whomsoever receives Christ His Son
Receives as well God's Holy Spirit

Take your thinking up a notch today
Have I given my soul some thought
Where will it be spending eternity
With the Devil???...I sure hope not!!!
There's a Word I wish to share with you today
You can remember it until your grave
That whomsoever calls upon the name of the Lord
Praise God he shall be saved!

Hallelujah what a Saviour!

About the Poet
I came to know the Lord as my personal Saviour in January of 1972. I was married on Oct 21,1966 to my wife Linda who also loves the Lord. We have ten children and now twenty-four grand children. In Aug 2012 we got the announcement of the birth of our first GREAT grand child (a baby girl). I was thrilled to find others of like precious faith and belief in Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! What a Savior! I am presently living in Champion, Alberta, Canada but we are originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. That is where the poem Canadian Tribute to America was birthed. One Sunday as I walked across the city on my way to church I came to the top of a hill and looked across at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. After watching the events of the Sept 11 tragedy it was weighing on my heart and mind and the Lord gave me these words. We came to Calgary and when my oldest daughter saw this poem she said, Dad, whats this? and I said a poem and she replied Dad, thats not a poem , thats a song and she then went to the piano and began to sing and play it. The result of which turned into a song entitled, A Canadian Tribute to America which she recorded on CD. garyjamessmith2005@yahoo.ca
