Adoring Eyes
By: Laurie Ragan Jenkins

Beagle in the backyard, his life isn't hard
Sleeps under the stars, wish I could
Fat, orange cat, hanging on the screen
Screaming let me in, it's my house
Never caught a mouse, just a can of tuna
Stray shows up, just a wee thing
Warm brown eyes, pleading take me in
How much trouble could I be
Turned into an enormous monster
Another kitty came around, calico bliss
Just a little miss, insisting she lives here
Took her to love, now there's four
The more the merrier
Life seems entwined, with these loyal creatures
Makes one wonder, why people can't be so adoring
