Surely I Can
By: Laurie Ragan Jenkins

As I stand looking out my window
Dreading trudging out in the cold
Drinking down my delicious hot coffee
Trying to warm up my cold bones
I raise up my kitchen window
To check just how cold outside
I hear this little birdie
Singing for God so full of joy
It makes me stop to think
If this little bird
Can sing such a joyful tune
Surely I can join in
And praise God with joy too
This little bird sings so sweetly
Out in the bitter, bitter coldness
Of God's world this morning
Without the need for this coffee
His joyful notes reaches to God's throne
Surely I can join in
With praise and joy for this day
With only one thing in my mind
Touching my Father's throne with praise
