Caged Bird Flies
By: Laurie Ragan Jenkins

When a caged bird sings
Nobody hears a thing, nobody pays attention
To the caged bird in the distance
Just an invisible object took for granted
When a caged bird flies
Everyone becomes amazed, no more timid little thing
After passing through the shallow hated gate
As the beautiful wings unfold
Reveals a heart that suddenly grows bold
Unlocked from all that holds it back
Spreads its wings, flies away, never looking back
God gave it freedom with these wings
God gave it power as it beautifully sings
