An Ode To Lake Barkley
Viewed Last 24 Hours: 1 time

While on vacation in this heated summer,
My wife and I visited beautiful Lake Barkley.
What a peaceful place to find restful slumber,
On the state borders of Tennesse and Kentucky.

Land between the lakes is what it is called,
Fishing, boat cruises, and Eagle watching,
Hiking paths that reveal natures majestic laud,
Sharing a contagious disease that you don't mind catching!

A wonderful colored portrait of nature,
Created by God, developed by man.
Designed and operated in its natural habitat,
Just as our Creator originally planned.

Lake Barkley gave my wife and I a most treasured gift,
A majestic sunset, comparable to the most beautiful rainbow.
Such an array of colors brought to our spirits a much needed uplift,
Not even a Fourth of July Spectacular could provide such a
an emotional moving show.

As Thoreau felt about his beloved Walden Pond,
So do my wife and I feel about Lake Barkley.
Unforgettable lake reflections as bright as the sun,
Would probably outshine the bluest of blue in the
Caribbean Sea.

Thank you Lake Barkley for your treausured gifts,
We will forever be indebted to those who created your marvelous plan.
Your beauty matches that of a scene from the most picturesque mountain cliff,
Designed by man, yet, you truly have the creative touch of
The Master's Hand.
