4th of July Blues

4th of July Blues

As I celebrate our glorious freedom,
On this bright sunny 4th of July day;
My heart can not help but think
Of our service men and women, who fight
For our freedom across the sea and far away.

On this 4th of July morning,I was awakened
With news of another American soldier killed;
In the midst of my freedom celebration, I must
Join another family who will find their son's
Or daughter's death a hard to swallow pill!

I don't mean to be melancholy,
On this most celebrated day
As more freedom heroes we approve;
However, please pardon me -- If
Until all our soldiers are out of harms way,
I suffer a slight case of those 4th of July Blues.

P.S. The cure for the 4th of July Blues is to make this day not only a day for fireworks in the sky, but prayer fireworks in the soul. Pray for America, her leaders, her people, and above all for all her service men and women around the world.
