Lord, I have found contentment
watching a morning sunrise,
a colorful sunset or
the twinkling of the stars at night.
Lord, just to sit and watch
the little sparrows
at the birdfeeder
fills me with contentment.
Knowing full well the birdseed
was laid  out by just me.

Lord, you have shown me
I am very rich though
not considered wealthy.
Contentment comes from
the simple, unhurried things
that surround me each day.
A smile from a little baby,
the touch of a grandchild,
a kiss from son or daughter, and
the love of a hard-working husband
gives me all the contentment
this soul has ever needed.
Thank You, Lord.

"I have learned in whatever state I am
to be content."(Philippians 4:11)

About the Poet
Born on October 24, 1939, I was one of seven children. I am now a mother of seven grown children, grandmother of 18, widow, and writer for the past 50 years mostly poetry. Day care provider of many years, now retired. Three poetry books published, but no longer in print, several little poem books self published. Published in local newspapers, several magazines and daily devotionals. My faith, family and writing poetry has brought me thus far.
