A New Beginning

A New Beginning

I awake on New Year's morning, eagerly

looking forward to a 'new beginning'.

God helps me forget the pain of the past,

the days left in the year behind me.

This is a new beginning, I am grateful.

I am filled with faith, love

compassion for others and peace.

I am moving closer and closer to life's race

finish line with each step I take.

To God I give all the glory and my heart

is filled with gratitude for what

Christ his Son has done for me.

"Forgetting the past and looking forward to what

lies ahead, I strain to reach the end of the race and

receive the prize for which God is calling us up to

Heaven because of what Christ Jesus did for us."

(Phillippians 3:13,14)

About the Poet
Born on October 24, 1939, I was one of seven children. I am now a mother of seven grown children, grandmother of 18, widow, and writer for the past 50 years mostly poetry. Day care provider of many years, now retired. Three poetry books published, but no longer in print, several little poem books self published. Published in local newspapers, several magazines and daily devotionals. My faith, family and writing poetry has brought me thus far.
