For Freedom

           For Freedom

Our grandparents came
from across the sea.
How they gloried at the sight
of our own  'Statue of Liberty'.
With all our power
with all our might
we must not lose
their freedom's fight.
Stand up for America
all of us, young and old.
Don't ever forget America's past,
don't ever let our spirits turn cold.
Stand up for America
for all the feedom she can give.
Don't forget America's present,
still the best country in which to live.
Put your hand on heart for America
long may her banner fly.
Stand up for America
may democracy never die.
Because of individual patriotism
Americans stand united as one.
with each new generation we work
for freedom from dawn to setting sun.

"Finally, be strong in the Lord, and
His mighty power." (Ephesians 1:7)

About the Poet
Born on October 24, 1939, I was one of seven children. I am now a mother of seven grown children, grandmother of 18, widow, and writer for the past 50 years mostly poetry. Day care provider of many years, now retired. Three poetry books published, but no longer in print, several little poem books self published. Published in local newspapers, several magazines and daily devotionals. My faith, family and writing poetry has brought me thus far.
