       The Day After Sunday

Bending low upon her knee
I overheard a mother's plea.
Oh Lord, give me twenty-four extra hours
To be alone among the flowers.
Just one day following Sunday,
Removing Monday's wash all gray.
Without anyone sitting on my lap
No one tugging on my skirt in tears.
Beg pardon Lord, I love the little dears.
It's just that I could use an extra day
To think, to dream, to nap and pray.
What's that Lord?
The cost of changing calendars is too great.
Of course, my extra day will have to wait.
Until You find others all agree
On having a day after Sunday with me.

"Be joyful and always have hope."(Romans 12:12)NIV

author's note: This poem-prayer has been answered. I am retired, living in a
retirement complex. My children are grown with children of their own and I
now have time to take a cat-nap, think, dream and pray.

About the Poet
Born on October 24, 1939, I was one of seven children. I am now a mother of seven grown children, grandmother of 18, widow, and writer for the past 50 years mostly poetry. Day care provider of many years, now retired. Three poetry books published, but no longer in print, several little poem books self published. Published in local newspapers, several magazines and daily devotionals. My faith, family and writing poetry has brought me thus far.
