A Mother's Jewels

A Mother's Jewels

I do not own a fur piece,
or any diamond rings.

To me, a mother, these
by far, are unimportant things.

My only jewels are my children,
with blond hair and eyes of blue.

Each day, I have no need
to ask for anything new.

The fragrance of their laughter,
surrounds me like sweet perfume.

In a mother's heart, material wealth
can never find much room.

"Happy is the man (or woman) that
hath his (or her quiver full of them.
    (from: Psalm 127 3-5) KJV

About the Poet
Born on October 24, 1939, I was one of seven children. I am now a mother of seven grown children, grandmother of 18, widow, and writer for the past 50 years mostly poetry. Day care provider of many years, now retired. Three poetry books published, but no longer in print, several little poem books self published. Published in local newspapers, several magazines and daily devotionals. My faith, family and writing poetry has brought me thus far.
