The Watch

The Watch

I stand and watch as my children grow...
Trials of life to be faced only a mother can know.

First, they cried and crawled and cooed.
Now, they walk and whisper secrets I already knew.

So many of life's duties, dear to me.
Reaching toward their final destiny.

I stand and watch as my children grow...
Trials of life, I have faced so many years ago.

By my mistakes, have they learned?
A good and happy life have they earned?

Take life as it comes, my grandma said.
Forever more, love's tears will be shed.

I stood and watched as my children grew...
Oh, how my grandma's words rang true.

note: all my children are grown and have children
of their own. And now I humbly watch as all my
grandchildren grow!

Thy wife shall be as a fruitful vine by the sides of
thine house: thy children like olive plants round
about thy table." (Psalm 1128:3) KJV

About the Poet
Born on October 24, 1939, I was one of seven children. I am now a mother of seven grown children, grandmother of 18, widow, and writer for the past 50 years mostly poetry. Day care provider of many years, now retired. Three poetry books published, but no longer in print, several little poem books self published. Published in local newspapers, several magazines and daily devotionals. My faith, family and writing poetry has brought me thus far.
