If I Had Time

 

Once I thought, "if I had time
I would write a book"
and leave a little part of me.

My children came and wanted
to take a look, I had no time
to write that book.  But...
they found me writing POETRY!

Now, I have the time to
write that book, children
are grown and no longer
here to take a look.  But...
if they were, they would see
me writing POETRY!

When I am gone, my time here
on Earth is over, I still have the hope
my children and my grandchildren
will pause for a look to read my poetry
now written in little books!

author's note:  I hope to share "the
fruit of the Spirit in love, joy, peace,
kindness, goodness, faithffulness,
gentleness, self control and long
suffering." (Galatians 5:22:23)
through my poetry.

About the Poet
Born on October 24, 1939, I was one of seven children. I am now a mother of seven grown children, grandmother of 18, widow, and writer for the past 50 years mostly poetry. Day care provider of many years, now retired. Three poetry books published, but no longer in print, several little poem books self published. Published in local newspapers, several magazines and daily devotionals. My faith, family and writing poetry has brought me thus far.
