We Soon Shall See His Face

The heavens are the gates of praise

Where God enjoys His Son

Where angel hosts proclaim as well

Praise Thrice Holy One!

God's guaranteed approval

Upon our blessed Lord's deed

He that believeth on His Son

Shall be free indeed!

That precious blood of Jesus

Who in the sinner’s stead

Washed, cleansed, by His Word

Who’s risen from the dead!

Now rising up on eagles' wings

We take our blessed flight

And soar to realms of glory

From darkness into light!

Spirit that’s within us

He gives, praises too

Giving witness to our lives

That knows us though and through.

And prayer, our Sanctuary

We’re worshippers at heart

Knowing we have been forgiven

Forgiveness we impart!

Depths of gratitudal thanks

We give it to our Lord

Upon awakening each day

Which our Good God affords!

Flee from us, you inner thoughts

That think, to praise, dismiss

But praises to our Highest Lord

Who gives continual bliss!

Shallow are the dregs of sin

That satan has to offer

When compared with Jesus Christ

Who fills our worship coffers!

“That Mighty Fortress is our God

A bulwark never failing”

Who breaks the power of cancelled sin

That had our spirits wailing!

Now amidst that heavenly host

And all that dwells on earth

Testimonials of True Resurrection

For those of second birth!

When nighttime comes upon us

Considering where we’ve been

We trust the handiwork of God

In us, redeemed from sin!

The heavens declare the glory of God

His handiwork, the firmament showeth

Tis His own He giveth more grace

No unbelievers knoweth!

Surrounding us are demons

Whose evil ways never cease

But God gives blessed victory

Because He is our Peace!

Peace that passeth understanding

We marvel in His grace

Blessed with His comforting Words

We soon shall see His Face!

About the Poet
I came to know the Lord as my personal Saviour in January of 1972. I was married on Oct 21,1966 to my wife Linda who also loves the Lord. We have ten children and now twenty-four grand children. In Aug 2012 we got the announcement of the birth of our first GREAT grand child (a baby girl). I was thrilled to find others of like precious faith and belief in Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! What a Savior! I am presently living in Champion, Alberta, Canada but we are originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. That is where the poem Canadian Tribute to America was birthed. One Sunday as I walked across the city on my way to church I came to the top of a hill and looked across at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. After watching the events of the Sept 11 tragedy it was weighing on my heart and mind and the Lord gave me these words. We came to Calgary and when my oldest daughter saw this poem she said, Dad, whats this? and I said a poem and she replied Dad, thats not a poem , thats a song and she then went to the piano and began to sing and play it. The result of which turned into a song entitled, A Canadian Tribute to America which she recorded on CD. garyjamessmith2005@yahoo.ca
