I Got Drenched By Love

I Got Drenched In Love

I remember the day so vividly
It was in the early morning hour
When finally it was made clear to me
Through the Holy Spirit's power
My Salvation was dependent upon
Not in anything that I could do
But just believing by faith what God's Word said
And accepting His Word as true!

O I remember the moment
When the Word became so clear
Of all the I am's that Jesus was
And it drew me nearer and nearer
I am the way, the truth, the life
As well as I am the door
I am the bread and water of life
Eat and thirst no more!

I am the Good Shepherd
Who giveth His life for the sheep
I am the light of the world
I do not slumber or sleep
I am the Resurrection and the Life
If you are dead you shall live
If you truly believe on me
A so great Salvation I will give

I turned my Bible over
And went close by the bed
It all became so clear to me
The Words that I had read
There was no special feeling
Or anything I had to do
But my Salvation was Christ my Saviour
He did all the work too!

I could hardly wait to say it
As I fell upon my knees
And confessed to God I was a sinner
And the Lord Jesus I received
It wasn't raining outside
But Christ was reigning within
I got drenched by His love
Through His cleansing of my sin!

Hallelujah what a Saviour!

About the Poet
I came to know the Lord as my personal Saviour in January of 1972. I was married on Oct 21,1966 to my wife Linda who also loves the Lord. We have ten children and now twenty-four grand children. In Aug 2012 we got the announcement of the birth of our first GREAT grand child (a baby girl). I was thrilled to find others of like precious faith and belief in Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! What a Savior! I am presently living in Champion, Alberta, Canada but we are originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. That is where the poem Canadian Tribute to America was birthed. One Sunday as I walked across the city on my way to church I came to the top of a hill and looked across at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. After watching the events of the Sept 11 tragedy it was weighing on my heart and mind and the Lord gave me these words. We came to Calgary and when my oldest daughter saw this poem she said, Dad, whats this? and I said a poem and she replied Dad, thats not a poem , thats a song and she then went to the piano and began to sing and play it. The result of which turned into a song entitled, A Canadian Tribute to America which she recorded on CD. garyjamessmith2005@yahoo.ca
