God Did Not Spare

Good morning Resurrection Day....He arose! He arose! Hallelujah, Christ arose!
Have a wonderful day with family and friends in an attitude of prayer in your heart for the Salvation of those who haven't believed as of yet! May today be their day of a resurrected heart and mind....may Jesus Christ be praised! I was listening to bbnradio.org and they were sharing about the writing of the hymn....How Great Thou Art....and when that verse came....."and when I think of God His Son not sparing...sent Him to die I scarce can take it in"...this poem began to take on life and could not help but to be written....thank you Lord!

God did not spare His Son
From agony and pain
But let Him face the onslaught of men
And hang in open shame

Stripped of all His dignity
There between two thieves
Hung the Son of Righteousness
Dying for you and me

And shall I dismiss the wonder of
What price for me He paid
To give me everlasting life
And victory over the grave

Let faith arise in my heart
And step up to the plate
To be the man I ought to be
Before it is too late

To repent of sin that holds me down
And confess my need of Him
And bow my heart unto that Lord
Who was stretched out for my sin

Lord I come in unrighteousness
Deserving but your wrath
But you have given your life for me
By giving all you hath

And now that life that raised you up
O Lord give it to me
So I can live from here on in
And love you willingly!

Yes that love that drew me in
And brought me to that place
Where I could see sin as it is
And know your wondrous grace

Has energized this heart of mine
To know you by your Spirit
May I share that word with joy
That those around might hear it

And that they too might know the Life
The best One of selection
To be raised up in faith as I
Through Christ our Resurrection!

And know the filling of the Spirit
That brings us joy and peace
And live a life with you as Friend
Because I just believed!

About the Poet
I came to know the Lord as my personal Saviour in January of 1972. I was married on Oct 21,1966 to my wife Linda who also loves the Lord. We have ten children and now twenty-four grand children. In Aug 2012 we got the announcement of the birth of our first GREAT grand child (a baby girl). I was thrilled to find others of like precious faith and belief in Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! What a Savior! I am presently living in Champion, Alberta, Canada but we are originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. That is where the poem Canadian Tribute to America was birthed. One Sunday as I walked across the city on my way to church I came to the top of a hill and looked across at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. After watching the events of the Sept 11 tragedy it was weighing on my heart and mind and the Lord gave me these words. We came to Calgary and when my oldest daughter saw this poem she said, Dad, whats this? and I said a poem and she replied Dad, thats not a poem , thats a song and she then went to the piano and began to sing and play it. The result of which turned into a song entitled, A Canadian Tribute to America which she recorded on CD. garyjamessmith2005@yahoo.ca
