Help Us Lord

Help us Lord to crown You
To crown You Lord of all
You who made the heart to beat
The Maker of us all
Every move we ever make
You weigh its motivation
And hold us accountable for our choices
Thou God of all Creation

Who do we think we really are
To try and live aloft
From acknowledging Your very presence
And indulge to mock and scoff
From nothing You have made everything
My God how great Thou art
You gave Your Word as a sure promise
That can change every sinful heart

You can't hold back from forgiving
Because of Christ's precious blood
Every heart that desires to turn away from sinning
For hallelujah You are God
Love that can replace the greatest of hate
O praise that precious name
With a new desire now to live for others
Because of the change that You bring

Bring a full surrender to do Your will
For You Lord know our deepest need
Is to be a bond servant of Jesus Christ
For this is true freedom indeed
Serving with love from a heart that's been touched
By the grace and the mercy of God
Stand ye fast in the faith that shall last
Always seeking...to do the most good!

May your pleasure be for Christ's undertaking
To seek and to save the lost
Wanting to serve for the glory of God
Who went by way of the Cross
For the soul of man is of highest value
God has esteemed it as such
By sending Christ to become our Redemption
Hallelujah for Heaven's touch!

Hallelujah what a Saviour!

About the Poet
I came to know the Lord as my personal Saviour in January of 1972. I was married on Oct 21,1966 to my wife Linda who also loves the Lord. We have ten children and now twenty-four grand children. In Aug 2012 we got the announcement of the birth of our first GREAT grand child (a baby girl). I was thrilled to find others of like precious faith and belief in Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! What a Savior! I am presently living in Champion, Alberta, Canada but we are originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. That is where the poem Canadian Tribute to America was birthed. One Sunday as I walked across the city on my way to church I came to the top of a hill and looked across at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. After watching the events of the Sept 11 tragedy it was weighing on my heart and mind and the Lord gave me these words. We came to Calgary and when my oldest daughter saw this poem she said, Dad, whats this? and I said a poem and she replied Dad, thats not a poem , thats a song and she then went to the piano and began to sing and play it. The result of which turned into a song entitled, A Canadian Tribute to America which she recorded on CD. garyjamessmith2005@yahoo.ca
