What Joy They Had to Share

WHAT JOY THEY HAD TO SHARE

Mary and Elizabeth , what joy they had to share
Both expectant mothers’ who’s son’s would Gospel share
One would light the way, for the Light that was to come
What anticipation dwelt, in those happy homes!
Nine months of duration, each one would endure
But blessed consolation was their hope I’m sure
God’s fullness of time had come, two Providential births
One of heavenly making, and one of planet earth’s
Miraculous conceptions, God makes no mistakes
He put His honor on the line, and opened Heaven’s Gate
Man was soon to fathom, as God would lead them too
That this was Deity’s Design, as prophets of old new
In the temple waiting and praying to the Lord
Was the prophetess Anna, according to God’s Word
And one by the name of Simeon, who was Spirit filled
When He saw the Saviour, his heart was surely thrilled
God always has a witness to the facts of faith
And in a timely manner, shows His awesome Grace
Answered prayer in its finest hour! Bursts forth with truest praise
Immanuel, God with us! Hail Thee, Ancient of Days
Hallelujah, what a Saviour, the sinner’s Truest Friend
Who brought deliverance by His life, His death, and His rising again
Hallelujah, what a Saviour, my soul doth magnify
I can faint express my love for Him, as tears roll down my eyes
Hallelujah, what a Saviour, let that Gospel roll
Tell that story, o’er and o’er, it has power to save a soul
Hallelujah, what a Saviour, this tongue shall never tire
To say, Hallelujah, what a Saviour! To Him who lifts us Higher!

Hallelujah, What a Saviour!

About the Poet
I came to know the Lord as my personal Saviour in January of 1972. I was married on Oct 21,1966 to my wife Linda who also loves the Lord. We have ten children and now twenty-four grand children. In Aug 2012 we got the announcement of the birth of our first GREAT grand child (a baby girl). I was thrilled to find others of like precious faith and belief in Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! What a Savior! I am presently living in Champion, Alberta, Canada but we are originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. That is where the poem Canadian Tribute to America was birthed. One Sunday as I walked across the city on my way to church I came to the top of a hill and looked across at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. After watching the events of the Sept 11 tragedy it was weighing on my heart and mind and the Lord gave me these words. We came to Calgary and when my oldest daughter saw this poem she said, Dad, whats this? and I said a poem and she replied Dad, thats not a poem , thats a song and she then went to the piano and began to sing and play it. The result of which turned into a song entitled, A Canadian Tribute to America which she recorded on CD. garyjamessmith2005@yahoo.ca
