O For A Heart Like David's

O For A Heart Like David's

O for a heart like David's
That knew the worth of God
And in his youth considered Him
And trusted in God's Word
His many times of loneliness
Became his fortification
As he trusted in the God of Heaven
For his every situation

I would love to have heard of his heart for God
In the prayers of his meditation
Of his very acknowledgement in every scenario
That was present in each situation
He knew God in a special way
In his growing up as a lad
And praise God could most confidently say
He has made me glad!

The birthing of a King
Was made in obedience
God had specifically chosen him
It was not by happenchance
David was a giant in the making
Who had a huge heart for God
And when he faced the giants in his life
Praise God they were as good as dead

For any man who knows His God
Such as the lad David did
His acknowlegement and faith as such
Is a truth that can never be hid
For God can boast of His man's purest calling
Through the honoring of His name
And the world will have to watch with wonder
The glorifying of God's name!

So take heart any of you young fellas
The same God is in operation
And His eyes continually go to and fro over His earth
To search for a heart of full cooperation
With a God who is longing to bless
The heart who declares God's righteousness
And is continually immersed in thoughtful meditation
Of giving glory...hallelu!jah!!!...to the God of our Salvation!

Yes David loved the Lord
And we witnessed it in his actions
For when God convicted him of sin in his life
We observed his confessions transaction
Although he became a King
He knew of his true anointing
For it came by the very God of Heaven
Who heals our disappointing

So today is your new beginning
In what place will you put your God?
Will He be front and centre in your Life?
Or have you not yet understood?
God will be strong on your behalf
Learn to give Him all the glory
And He will write your history
And hallelujah!...what a story!!!

Talk about a heart for God
David vented his every frustration
But continually trusted in His God
He knew of His so great Salvation
And the Refiner's fire burnt away
The compilation of David's sin
And his faith shone forth as a breath from Heaven
Hallelujah what a King!!!

Hallelujah what a Saviour!

About the Poet
I came to know the Lord as my personal Saviour in January of 1972. I was married on Oct 21,1966 to my wife Linda who also loves the Lord. We have ten children and now twenty-four grand children. In Aug 2012 we got the announcement of the birth of our first GREAT grand child (a baby girl). I was thrilled to find others of like precious faith and belief in Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! What a Savior! I am presently living in Champion, Alberta, Canada but we are originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. That is where the poem Canadian Tribute to America was birthed. One Sunday as I walked across the city on my way to church I came to the top of a hill and looked across at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. After watching the events of the Sept 11 tragedy it was weighing on my heart and mind and the Lord gave me these words. We came to Calgary and when my oldest daughter saw this poem she said, Dad, whats this? and I said a poem and she replied Dad, thats not a poem , thats a song and she then went to the piano and began to sing and play it. The result of which turned into a song entitled, A Canadian Tribute to America which she recorded on CD. garyjamessmith2005@yahoo.ca
