Courting Jesus
Viewed Last 24 Hours: 2 times

Other Poems by Michael P. Johnson

       Courting Jesus

The world may see God’s ways as odd

Outdated foolish rot

A few believe that Christ is God

Yet most say curt He’s not

Some doubt He’s ever lived at all

His virgin birth decline

No wonder cynics fail and fall

Through Satan’s putrid wine

As long as man refuses life –Dt.30:11-20

Continues to rebel

Shadows will woo Christ’s wayward wife –Mt.19:9

Darkness will lead to hell –Rev.20:15

From Satan; man must seek divorce –Jas.4:7

Must turn from all he’s done –Ac.3:19

Must seek God’s face, show true remorse –2Ch.7:14

And court His faithful Son –Isa.55:6

Yet most believe God’s ways are strange

Transgression’s common place

The world has need to so much change

If she’s to see God’s face

But if man’s knees to Christ would bend –Jas.4:10

Once there declare true love –Ps.18:1-

Their love affair would see no end –Eph.5:25-32

Through marriage high above –Rev,21:2,9+Rev 22:17

But man persists to war and fight –Gal.5:15

Ignore God’s outstretched hand –Ex.6:6-8

Refusing still His Guiding Light –Jn.5:40+ Jn.3:20-21

Thus fail to understand –Hos.4:6

For rich, for poor, for all who doubt

Christ died upon the tree –1Pe.3:18

That’s what His love is all about –Jn.3:16

For Christ Himself, told me…..

About the Poet
I never wrote a word of poetry in my life. Till the day Jesus took my hand and touched my soul.....I invite your response. However most poems are not about me! Very few are. But the feed-back good, bad or indifferent is always desired. Not meant to offend, but I write about many things in many a guise. Of life, death, lost, found, saved, backsliders, new comers, repenting souls, doubting hearts, heathens, Christians, fire, water, Satan's daughter, wallowing in sin, saved, made sound walking in Light, graceful righteous. Suffering, ecstatic, bored, excited, sad, delighted, Sick, well, lame, able, living, dying, etc. etc. etc. Writing about anything, everything and everyone as the spirit leads. All meant to reveal, waken, revive, encourage, shame, help. Gladden, pick up, exalt, portrait, liberate. Again over 99% of my work is not about me. Although at times I write as though I were or am. Speaking e.g. in the first person. This is quite common even in the bible itself. Prophets speak of themselves, then God speaks, again the prophet, then God......Quite often it's difficult to distinguish whom it is that at any given time is speaking or narrating.
