Take a Look at Yourself

Take a look at yourself

Inside, I saw filth and hate

A sinner barred from Heavenís door

There must be more to life I thought

Since all my wealth amounted nought

Wandering here, rummaging there

If I should die would someone care?

Yet none I found could turn the tide

Torment and pain remained inside

I learned that sin; had birthed my grief

But what on earth could bring relief?

Depression grows through Heavenís drought

Was truly this; what lifeís about?

To all but self, my heart was stone

I knew the blame was mine alone

Strangely savouring sweet remorse

From deep inside an unseen force

A voice spoke forth an unknown peace

ďFor you I died to bring release

Upon the cross I bore your shame

So you my child could bear my nameĒ

I looked around but nought I saw

Again the voice Iím Christ, Lifeís Door

Today Iíve come to set you free

Repent my child and walk with meĒ

In life I thought Iíd seen it all

Until I heard Christ Jesus call

Through Heavenís grace my mindís made up

Iíll drink no more from Satanís cup

Through selfless love my God I praise

Iíve Fire inside to mend my ways

I saw The Door I entered through

Iím free! Thank God Iím born anew.....

About the Poet
I never wrote a word of poetry in my life. Till the day Jesus took my hand and touched my soul.....I invite your response. However most poems are not about me! Very few are. But the feed-back good, bad or indifferent is always desired. Not meant to offend, but I write about many things in many a guise. Of life, death, lost, found, saved, backsliders, new comers, repenting souls, doubting hearts, heathens, Christians, fire, water, Satan's daughter, wallowing in sin, saved, made sound walking in Light, graceful righteous. Suffering, ecstatic, bored, excited, sad, delighted, Sick, well, lame, able, living, dying, etc. etc. etc. Writing about anything, everything and everyone as the spirit leads. All meant to reveal, waken, revive, encourage, shame, help. Gladden, pick up, exalt, portrait, liberate. Again over 99% of my work is not about me. Although at times I write as though I were or am. Speaking e.g. in the first person. This is quite common even in the bible itself. Prophets speak of themselves, then God speaks, again the prophet, then God......Quite often it's difficult to distinguish whom it is that at any given time is speaking or narrating.
