Come and Eat
Viewed Last 24 Hours: 1 time

By Michael P. Johnson
Other Poems by Michael P. Johnson

       Come and eat

“Open your gates hear me speak

My Kingdom’s come for all to seek

First die to self, receive life’s Seal

The Holy Ghost will all reveal

Who eat of me will never die

I am The Truth I cannot lie

To eat my flesh may sound absurd

But live by faith believe my word

Eat of The Truth let nothing waste

There’s no mistake, nor said in haste

Trust not in self, nor Satan’s lies

As nations did and died like flies

Void of knowledge they saw decay

Through selfishness, they lost The Way

They failed to seek what comes quite free

To contrite hearts on bended knee

My Word’s a door that’s never locked

Though all may come, I’ll not be mocked

Many play games, despise my rules

Patient I am, but not with fools

Who’ll choose to live in constant shame

Should know your God’s consuming flame

Best now be warned before too late

Void the devil, or share his fate

Man’s time is short your end’s in sight

Then like a thief I’ll come one night

You must be clean to join my bride

Pure as gold seven times tried

It’s not your deeds, but by my grace

Only the meek may see my face

Before time’s dawn, a few I saved

Is in my hand, your; name engraved?.....

About the Poet
I never wrote a word of poetry in my life. Till the day Jesus took my hand and touched my soul.....I invite your response. However most poems are not about me! Very few are. But the feed-back good, bad or indifferent is always desired. Not meant to offend, but I write about many things in many a guise. Of life, death, lost, found, saved, backsliders, new comers, repenting souls, doubting hearts, heathens, Christians, fire, water, Satan's daughter, wallowing in sin, saved, made sound walking in Light, graceful righteous. Suffering, ecstatic, bored, excited, sad, delighted, Sick, well, lame, able, living, dying, etc. etc. etc. Writing about anything, everything and everyone as the spirit leads. All meant to reveal, waken, revive, encourage, shame, help. Gladden, pick up, exalt, portrait, liberate. Again over 99% of my work is not about me. Although at times I write as though I were or am. Speaking e.g. in the first person. This is quite common even in the bible itself. Prophets speak of themselves, then God speaks, again the prophet, then God......Quite often it's difficult to distinguish whom it is that at any given time is speaking or narrating.
