Prepare Yourself
Viewed Last 24 Hours: 1 time

By Michael P. Johnson
Other Poems by Michael P. Johnson

         Prepare yourself

Blessed is the soul with Christ inside

So blessed God’s praise to sing

Venturing in the far and wide

Serving our Lord and King

To break the devil’s yoke in life

To sever Satan’s chain

Be unto Christ a faithful wife

Be truly born a again

Still ill equipped some venture out

On corners stand and preach

They scarcely know what life’s about

But yet the world they’ll teach

With good intentions hell we pave

Even by some reborn

Witnessing what the crowd still crave

We stray when lust has drawn

The fight’s not fought by flesh and bone

Nor through the strength of man

Through Christ must change one’s heart of stone

To know Salvation’s plan –Ro.12:1-2

Anointed; should Christ’s servants be

God’s clout in life we need

Through Jesus’ eyes we need to see

Before we sow life’s seed

We know the world’s in need of food

Her heart has yet not heard

Be patient though till God’s endued –Act.1:4

Before we share His word

To whom God gives His Holy Ghost

To these will come His might

Encompassed by the Heavenly host

The foe we’ll put to flight..…

          Truly Prepare

Till in this life the battles won

We’ll need to spread the news

That all receive God’s Living Son

Or have the choice to choose

To speak of God’s eternal will

We first must know The Way

Man unprepared, can cause much ill

Cause tender plants to stray

We can’t continue running wild

God’s Way we must pursue

Until the lost are reconciled

We’re still a scattered few

We must know how; to plough the field

To scatter seed abroad

To irrigate until the yield

Is increased by The Lord

Knowledge, to propagate the earth

Through faith life’s war to win

To truth, we need to give first birth

And end all personal sin

Not few who’ve said salvation’s mine

Christ’s blood has set me free

Have thrown their precious pearls to swine

Have turned and made them flee

God’s armour true we need to wear

His Word to make us whole

His Light to shine with love and care

His Flame within the soul

We’re not to play as Satan’s fools

His fruit continue yearn

While disunited, havoc rules!

And Christ will not return…..

About the Poet
I never wrote a word of poetry in my life. Till the day Jesus took my hand and touched my soul.....I invite your response. However most poems are not about me! Very few are. But the feed-back good, bad or indifferent is always desired. Not meant to offend, but I write about many things in many a guise. Of life, death, lost, found, saved, backsliders, new comers, repenting souls, doubting hearts, heathens, Christians, fire, water, Satan's daughter, wallowing in sin, saved, made sound walking in Light, graceful righteous. Suffering, ecstatic, bored, excited, sad, delighted, Sick, well, lame, able, living, dying, etc. etc. etc. Writing about anything, everything and everyone as the spirit leads. All meant to reveal, waken, revive, encourage, shame, help. Gladden, pick up, exalt, portrait, liberate. Again over 99% of my work is not about me. Although at times I write as though I were or am. Speaking e.g. in the first person. This is quite common even in the bible itself. Prophets speak of themselves, then God speaks, again the prophet, then God......Quite often it's difficult to distinguish whom it is that at any given time is speaking or narrating.
