Don't Just Sit There
Viewed Last 24 Hours: 1 time

By Michael P. Johnson
Other Poems by Michael P. Johnson

       Don’t just sit there

Regardless what you say or do

God sent his word because of you

He’ll dwell within if you believe

Promising there he’ll never leave

Whether you come whether you go

Allow the lamp of God to glow

Though worldly eyes to truth are blind

They see whose deeds are good and kind

However good we try to preach

The worldly mind is hard to reach

But Jesus’ arms are long and true

Just share the word he gives to you

To play at church can none afford

We’re called to serve God’s Christ the Lord

In sowing seed through every land

That all the earth may understand

Regardless where we’ve grown our roots

Christians are known by Christ like fruits

So don’t waste time within a pew

Go use the gifts God gives to you

If you have Christ, you know today

God’s word in you has come to stay

So rise and shine life’s light has come

We can’t afford just sitting dumb

Stand up! Now leave that nice warm seat

There’s work to do out in the street

Through Jesus Christ we’re more than blest

Now give a thought to all the rest

God chooses none just there to sit

All lamps on earth must first be lit

Spread Heaven’s oil that ends all doubt

That’s why to Christ God calls us out. Mt.28:19.....

About the Poet
I never wrote a word of poetry in my life. Till the day Jesus took my hand and touched my soul.....I invite your response. However most poems are not about me! Very few are. But the feed-back good, bad or indifferent is always desired. Not meant to offend, but I write about many things in many a guise. Of life, death, lost, found, saved, backsliders, new comers, repenting souls, doubting hearts, heathens, Christians, fire, water, Satan's daughter, wallowing in sin, saved, made sound walking in Light, graceful righteous. Suffering, ecstatic, bored, excited, sad, delighted, Sick, well, lame, able, living, dying, etc. etc. etc. Writing about anything, everything and everyone as the spirit leads. All meant to reveal, waken, revive, encourage, shame, help. Gladden, pick up, exalt, portrait, liberate. Again over 99% of my work is not about me. Although at times I write as though I were or am. Speaking e.g. in the first person. This is quite common even in the bible itself. Prophets speak of themselves, then God speaks, again the prophet, then God......Quite often it's difficult to distinguish whom it is that at any given time is speaking or narrating.
