Pragmatic?

I don’t mean to sound pragmatic, Lord
but without you to walk to
to talk to
ask the enigmatic questions of
where would I know hope?

I don’t mean to be selfish, Lord
nor to use you a crutch
but without you to lean on
in what could I trust?

I don’t mean to feel stronger, Lord
but believe me I do
when you whisper, I hear you, child
and I’ll always be here
