To Find a Planet

Oh to find a planet
with no news
save that which brings smiles;

whose music stations only play
tearjerkers once in a while
a little soul, and sax,
but easy on the blues

a planet where hellos last longer,
come more often,
than goodbyes

where the miles and reasons
dividing loved ones, family and friends
are lily-pad close, a hop away, and safe,
the air pure and sweet as a newborn’s breath
against a mother’s cheek;
where water flows relaxed as aged wine
and people come together
from genuine affection, nothing more
and for whatever space in time
that their destiny can afford
create delightful exchanges
forever to be stored
deep within the hearts
to which they’re poured

Oh, to find a planet
