Tiffin's for Tea Time

Tiffin's for Tea Time

I'm loading my backpack
with notepads and pens
heading up to Wellington St.
to Tiffin's for Tea Time

closing my door
escaping phone rings and e-mails
going to seek stillness
away from Christmas chaos
home repairs and housework
let someone else pour!

Sunshine'll be lighting
the large front bay windows
dancing on the hardwood
plant leaves all-glistening

but if it clouds over
there'll still be tea or coffee
books and my work to warm me
a biscuit or muffin

on the other side of the store
a self-help rack to die for
and esteem-incentive volumes
to keep my strength on track
gateways to my goals

there's the sight of the bright
coloured teapots and tea-things
some doubling for coffee
sunflower and fruit designs
all varieties of teas

so I'll sink to the quiet
on the soft, sprawling sofa
or at the wooden tables
feeling no clocked pressure

just study, dream, live in
the moment
settle my mind

drink in the positives
surrounded by people
who celebrate books, mediation and yoga
growth and support
the treasure of silence

I'm loading my backpack
heading up to Tiffin's
