Dedicated to Rev. Brian Cornelius on his leaving for a new career assignment.

(This was my entry into his Memory Book for the presentation and luncheon, June 22, 03)

B lessed is Brian for the welcome home to Northwestern United he gave me

R ich was our congregation for the impact of his sermons and friendship

I nspiring is the adjective that he instilled in his influence on all ages

A pocalypse, Epiphany, Pentecost, all the seasons’ guideposts, became real by his voice

N ever will we forget his unique rapport with children through to elderly

C ompassion always led the way in the central carpet of his church

O pening our eyes and hearts to the Mystery of Faith

R espect for others’ religions and cultures is the eclecticism he exemplifies

N atural and comfortable was how he made me feel, returning to God’s House

E ven though he’s leaving, he remains a central influence

L eading us in strength, but with the understanding it is human to ask questions

I ’ll forever cherish the education of his words; his inviting me to perform my tribute to Tom in church

U nderneath the formal role, his mortal down-to-earth ways related to us all

S adly, seasons aren’t forever, but I know Brian’s inspiration is.
