carry myself through the maze
centered in conviction
first needs are my own praise
fate is for God\'s prediction
negatives face eviction
hold my head up high
redirect my diction
instead of a cry, just try

when oppressors believe I laze
their scorn gives me constriction
with creation I self-amaze
my own eyes escape restriction
I cannot be someone\'s stick-on
refocusing after days of haze
won\'t have much food to lick on
instead of a cry, just try

In fields with poets graze
I shall not, won\'t be, picked on
beneath the brilliant fresh rays
hope replaces friction
I\'m not someone\'s fiction/dereliction

my wings\'ll break free to fly
I\'ll go all the way to Picton
instead of a cry, just try

now is the time to shift on
truth will be no lie
there must be a fix-on
instead of a cry, just try
