Plight of the Poet

Plight of the Poet

What's it mean to be a poet?
What's it do to you inside?
Does it build up your self-confidence?
Does it fill you up with pride?

Well, it means there's words aclamorin'
For attention in your head;
In your eating, in your waking,
In your sleeping in your bed.

And the noise cannot be quieted
Till those thoughts are put to pen,
That's the plight that plagues a poet:
Brief facades of peace and then...

Thoughts come beckonin' ever gently,
Like a lover's haunting song ~
Peace, for poets, comes not easily,
And it never stays for long.

So, dear heart, please humor poets,
Though at times they may seem odd;
Patronize the unsung poet,
Heap on accolades and laud.

About the Poet
IN MEMORIAM I'm just a servant of the Lord that wants to magnify Him through poetry, and to cause others to focus on Him.
