Whole-Hearted Prayer

"The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit;
a broken and contrite heart, O God,
You will not despise."
(Psalm 51:17, NIV)

Whole-Hearted Prayer

So long ago I prayed this prayer,
I got down on my knees:
"I'm giving You my whole heart, Lord,
To do with as You please...

"Betray me, slay me, take it all,
I swear I'll love You still;
My heart and life belong to You,
Do with me as You will."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When told that she was terminal
My pleading soon began ~
I begged God for a healing
But my prayer was not His Plan.
So long ago I gave my heart,
That prayer is binding still;
He broke the heart I gave to Him
Because it was His Will.
No matter how my heart is torn
Or how much it may ache,
I'd given God full ownership
And it was *His* to break.
Though broken-hearted, I will trust,
From bitterness, abstain ~
Until the One who binds up hearts
Plants joy in mine again.
"He healeth the broken in heart,
and bindeth up their wounds."
(Psalm 147:3, KJV)
About the Poet
IN MEMORIAM I'm just a servant of the Lord that wants to magnify Him through poetry, and to cause others to focus on Him.
